DROP THE EXCESS BAGGAGE SCRIPTURE: MARK 10:49-50 "Jesus stopped and said, “Call him over!” They called out to the blind man and said, “Don’t be afraid! Come on! He is calling for you.” The man threw off his coat as he jumped up and ran to Jesus."

What is excess baggage? excess baggage is luggage that is larger or weighs more than your ticket allows, so that you have to pay extra to take it on board when traveling. Either you will be made to drop the excess baggage or you will pay for it.

Many of us entered this new year carrying excess baggage. There are lots of things hanging around us that we don't need. They are excess baggage. Those things must be dropped if we are to experience a change in our lives this year.

In our scripture, blind Bartimaeus called out to Jesus for help. When the Lord called him, he did something symbolical. He drop his old coat so that he could run faster to the Lord. Bartimaeus knew to receive a new life from Jesus, he had to drop his old life/coat which was his excess baggage.

Which excess baggage do you have in your life? Perhaps it is a habitual sin that you still haven't repented from. You could be praying for new things from God, but until you repent from that sin and change, nothing new will come from God.

Maybe your excess baggage is unforgiveness. Unforgiveness is a dangerous spirit. Please if you have imprisoned anyone in your heart, please forgive and let it go. Drop that excess baggage. Forgive.

Perhaps your excess baggage is a failed relationship that is dragging you into sin. Please drop that excess baggage before it leads you into destruction. Let nothing separate you from God.

Whatever excess baggage you may have in your life, I pray the Lord helps you to do away with those things so that you can have a fruitful new year. God bless you.
