Breakfast With Christ - Forgive Freely

FORGIVE FREELY SCRIPTURE: COLOSSIANS 3:13 "Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

Forgiveness is an essential Christian character. Our salvation was built on God's forgiveness. A Christian who doesn't possess a forgiving heart isn't a Christian at all. So why must we forgive?

1. GOD FIRST FORGAVE US We must forgive others because God first forgave us our sins on the Cross and keep forgiving us. We are all products of God's mercy, His forgiveness and His love. If God who we sin against regularly forgives us, then who are we not to forgive others?

2. FORGIVENESS IS A GIFT When we forgive others, we offer ourselves a gift. We free our hearts from all the negative emotions like bitterness and anger. A true Christian forgives. A true Christian doesn't keep bitterness and anger in his/her heart.

3. FORGIVENESS IS A COMMAND These are the words of Jesus in Matthew 6:14-15. "For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins."

Today, if you have anything against anyone, please let it go and forgive. Let the bitterness go. Let the unforgiveness go. Forgive and forgive freely, that's what Christianity is about.
