BREAKFAST WITH CHRIST

TOPIC: "FOLLOW ME"

SCRIPTURE: MATTHEW 4:19 "Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”

"I have decided to follow Jesus; I have decided to follow Jesus; I have decided to follow Jesus; No turning back, no turning back"

In the early stages of Jesus's earthly ministry, He called His disciples with just a simple phrase "follow me". So what does it mean to follow Jesus?

1. SELF DENIAL This is one truth: you can't follow Jesus if you are still following the carnal things of this world. Following Christ demands total self denial. You must leave behind all the pleasures of this world and follow Jesus in faithfulness and obedience. That was what the early disciples did.

2. LIVING LIKE CHRIST To follow Jesus is to live like Him. You cannot be a follower of Christ if you are not living like Him. Our lives must be Christ-like. Following Christ isn't about singing or dancing to gospel songs. It is about living like Jesus.

3. BE PREPARED TO FACE CHALLENGES Following Christ isn't an easy thing. The world will condemn you. You will lose friends. Things will look bleak sometimes. There will be times you will feel like giving up. But don't. Despite all the challenges, God is faithful. He will never forsake you.

Today, please make that firm decision to reject sin and follow Jesus Christ and never look back. Life is safe with Jesus.
