BREAKFAST WITH CHRIST

TOPIC: COME BACK TO GOD SCRIPTURE: LUKE 15:18 "I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee"

The parable of the prodigal son is one of the most famous stories told by Jesus Christ. The full parable can be found in Luke 15. Today, we look at the lessons we can pick from this story.

1. HE SINNED The fist thing to note from this story is that the prodigal son sinned. He decided to leave home and went to waste his inheritance on prostitutes.

2. HE REGRETTED At a point in time, the prodigal son realized his mistakes and deeply regretted. More importantly, he didn't only regret, he decided to go back to his father and repent.

3. HE RETURNED HOME After regretting, he decided to go home. He didn't allow his sin to keep him in a permanent state of guilt. He did the most important thing; that is to return to his father in repentance.

4. HIS FATHER RECEIVED HIM The prodigal son's father was already waiting for his son to return. When the boy got home, his father received him with joy and forgave him his sins.

This story teaches us one thing; we need to return to God when we sin. God is ever merciful, He is always ready to forgive us our sins if we come back to Him in repentance.

We should never allow guilt to keep us from God. It is not enough to just regret our sins, we must go back to God and repent genuinely. God is ever ready to take us back. We just need to make that decision to go back to Him.
