BREAKFAST WITH CHRIST
TOPIC: THE NARROW ROAD SCRIPTURE: MATTHEW 7:14 "But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it".
Welcome to BWC. The road to eternal life is indeed a narrow one. The Christian life isn't meant to be easy nor comfortable. Only few people are able to walk on the righteous path of God.
The reason only few people are on the road to eternal life is that it takes a lot of self discipline and self denial to be on this road. Unfortunately, many of us Christians are not willing to be self disciplined to worship God.
Many of us today have become lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God. We would rather watch T.V than to pray. We can spend long hours reading other books but we hardly read our Bibles. We cannot be on the narrow road if we love pleasure more than we love God.
A lot of us love our comfort more than we love God. We love money more than God. We hate to go the extra mile to worship God. We will only worship God so long as it makes us comfortable. We love ourselves more than we love God.
Being on the narrow road to Heaven requires strict self denial. Denying yourself of the pleasures of this life and staying faithful to God. Our flesh loves pleasure. So long as we continue to follow our flesh desires, we can't be on the narrow road to Heaven.
There are lot of Christians who would rather go to parties than to go for evening church services. Evangelism isn't a priority for us. We are always choosing things that will make us happy not things that will please God. This attitude won't get us to Heaven.
A lot of us don't mind staying long for parties to close but we are always in hurry to go home when we go to church. We love pleasure more than God. But the Bible is clear, until we deny ourselves the pleasures of this world, we cannot follow Jesus Christ.
To be on the narrow road to eternal life, you must be born again, you must be disciplined enough to always choose God over carnal pleasure. You must deny yourself all the carnal things of this world and be faithful to God. Simply, you must live for God.
