BREAKFAST WITH CHRIST

TOPIC: ENCOURAGE YOURSELF SCRIPTURE: 1 SAMUEL 30:6 "And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God." KJV

Welcome to BWC. Have you ever been in a situation where you badly needed someone to encourage you but no one did? What do you do when you are so down and you need someone to talk to for encouragement bu you couldn't find anyone?

Once upon a time, King David and his men went to fight a battle. When they got back, their enemies came to burn their villages and took all their wives and children away. This situation made David and his men sad.

Even though two of David's wives were also captured, David's men got angry with him and threatened to stone him. At this point, even those who were his friends turned against him. King David needed a friend badly to encourage him but they all wanted to stone him.

In this critical situation, David could have completely broken down but the Bible said David encouraged/strengthened himself in the Lord. This is one thing we all need to learn to do. There are times in life that you need to encourage yourself to keep moving on.

The truth is, your friends and family can fail you. Don't always look for encouragement from other people. When things are going bad, you need to find strength in the Lord. You need to be able to encourage yourself when you are down. It is okay to cry when you are down, you are human but when you are done crying, please encourage yourself in God and keep moving on in life.

Life isn't smooth, you won't always be happy. When you feel broken or discouraged, please go to God and find strength in Him to continue living. Human beings will fail you but God won't. Depend only on God for strength. Stay blessed!
