BREAKFAST WITH CHRIST

TOPIC: LOVE IN DEEDS SCRIPTURE: 1 JOHN 3:18 "My little children, let us not love in word, neither in speech ; but in deed and in truth."

One of the things we can learn from God is that He is the God who loves through action. In John 3:16, God declared His love for humanity and He proved it by sacrificing His only Son for our sins.

OUR LOVE FOR GOD It is not enough for us to just declare our love for God, we need to show it in our actions. Some of us Christians always claim we love God but does our action and lifestyle portray our love for God?

Our scripture today is advising us not to love in words but in deed/action. If we say we love God, then we must obey His Word. It is impossible to claim we love God whilst we still disobey Him every day. Where is our love?

We cannot claim we love God when we are still comfortably living in sin. Our Lord came to die for us, if we indeed love Him, we would repent from our sins and live for Him.

We demonstrate our love for God when we live in obedience and holiness. To love God is to live in holiness. To love God is to be faithful to Him. To love God is to live in obedience. It is not just enough to say you love God, you must show it.

OUR LOVE FOR OTHERS Throughout scripture, the Bible admonish us to love our neighbours. Basically, your neighbor is everyone around you. We must show genuine love towards others. If you love someone, you must show it.

You cannot claim you love God when you hate your fellow human. We cannot claim we have love when we live in bitterness, hatred and unforgiveness. To love is to forgive.

God expects us to forgive, God expects us to live at peace with everyone. God expects us to be kind and compassionate. Let us love in deeds and not just in words. It is easy to say you love God, you must prove it.
