BREAKFAST WITH CHRIST
TOPIC: BORN AGAIN SCRIPTURE: JOHN 3:3 "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God".
Welcome to BWC. Who is a born again Christian? What does it mean to be born again? What shows one is truly born again? These are some of the questions we will be exploring in the next few days in our series on "Born Again".
Born again is a spiritual transformation of the nature of a man which must reflect in his/her character. We get our clearest understanding of the term "Born again" from Jesus' conversation with Nicodemus in John 3.
To be born again is not to be physically re-born from our mothers' womb. When Jesus said we must be born again, He was referring to something bigger than physical birth. He was talking about a spiritual birth.
To be born again is to be born of water and the Spirit of God(John 3:5). Being born again starts with realizing that we are sinners. This realization must lead us to submit to the authority of God by repenting from our sins and accepting the Lord Jesus Christ.
When a person accepts Jesus Christ into his/her life, the Spirit of God transforms the person from a sinner into a child of God. This process must be followed by baptism. When this is done, the person is said to be Born Again.
A born again person is a changed person. The old nature of sin is gone. The person now has eternal life in Christ Jesus. But being born again is just the beginning of the Christian journey. To be continued...
