BREAKFAST WITH CHRIST
TOPIC: THE CHARACTER OF CHRIST IN THE BELIEVER
SCRIPTURE: ACTS 4:13
"When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus".
Once upon a time, Peter and John were brought before the Jewish council. Their crime? They had healed a cripple in the name of Jesus. When they stood before the council, the two Apostles spoke boldly about Jesus Christ.
One thing that convinced the Jewish council that Peter and John were followers of Christ was that they exhibited the character of Christ in front of the council.
Jesus Christ is the foundation of our Christianity. What makes a person a Christian is not church attendance, it is not about singing gospel songs, it is not even about praying or reading the Bible. What makes us Christians is the presence of the character of Christ in us.
The question is; do you exhibit the character of Christ? What do you do when you are alone? What do you do when you are around people? Is the character of Christ seen in your life?
In Antioch(Acts 11:26), the pagan people called the disciples "Christians(followers of Christ)" because the disciples lived like Christ. Any believer who isn't living like Jesus Christ isn't a follower of Christ. It is that simple.
The way you behave, the way you talk, your appearance, in fact every thing you do must be Christ-like. People must see you and see Jesus in you. If you don't exhibit the character of Christ, you are not for Christ.
You could be a tongue speaking church goer, you can be very active for God but if you don't live like Jesus Christ, you are not His follower. How do we live like Jesus Christ? We will look at this in our next BWC.
