TOPIC: DEVELOPING A PRAYER LIFE

SCRIPTURE: 1 THESSALONIANS. 5:17

Welcome to BWC. The Word of God encourages us to pray without ceasing. To pray without ceasing, we must have a prayer life. But how many of us have a prayer life? A lot of us put much efforts into developing a family life, relationships, careers and even social media life. Unfortunately, we don't put the same effort into having a consistent prayer life.

THE NEED FOR A PRAYER LIFE

Why should one have a prayer life? The need for a prayer life can be found in James 5:16 "...the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much". There is power in prayer. Prayer works. You cannot survive in this world if you don't hold on to prayer. You need a prayer life.

PRAYER TIME TABLE

To have a consistent prayer life, you need to develop a specific time table for your prayers within a day. Choose hours within the day you will be able to spend enough time with God in prayer. It could be early at dawn and late in the night if you are a worker.

The Bible says Daniel prayed three times in a day. That was his prayer time table. You need to develop a consistent prayer schedule for yourself. A time you commune with God one on one without any distractions. It is your personal prayer time with your Maker.

BE DISCIPLINED

It is one thing drawing a prayer time table and it is another thing actually sticking to it. There would be times you don't feel like praying. But that's when you even need to pray more. To develop a consistent prayer life, you need to be disciplined enough to always pray even when you don't feel like doing so.

AVOID DISTRACTIONS

Satan will do anything to keep you from praying. Sometimes he gets you too busy to even have time to pray. Other times too he overburdens you with issues of life to draw your attention away from God.

There are other things that keep us away from praying. Sometimes too simple things such as TV, relationships and even social media can distract us from praying if we don't manage our time well.

To develop a consistent prayer life, you need to avoid distractions. You need to be focused. Let nothing keep you away from praying. Prayer is extremely important in the life of every believer. Please develop a consistent personal prayer life today. Make prayer your daily habit.
