Breakfast With Christ - Will Your Anchor Hold?

BREAKFAST WITH CHRIST

TOPIC: WILL YOUR ANCHOR HOLD? SCRIPTURE: HEBREWS 6:19 "This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil,"

Welcome to BWC. In 1882, a Sunday school teacher who also doubled as a Christian song writer, Priscilla Jane Owens wrote the song "Will Your Anchor Hold". An anchor is a metallic heavy device that is dropped into water to hold a ship firmly to prevent it from drifting away. Today, this song is one of the most popular Christian hymns. This is the first verse of the song:

"Will your anchor hold in the storms of life, When the clouds unfold their wings of strife? When the strong tides lift and the cables strain, Will your anchor drift, or firm remain?"

We all go through difficult moments in life. So today, my question to you is very simple: Who is your anchor? Who have you placed your hope in? Is your anchor your dad or your mom? Is your anchor your Pastor? Is your anchor your money? If any of these is your anchor then prepare for a possible disappointment.

The Bible says cursed is the one who trust in man and draws strength from mere men(Jeremiah 17:5). Humans will fail you. Money or wealth will fail you. If money can save lives, no rich man would die. Everything in this world is temporary so it will be very disastrous to place our hope in them.

The only true Anchor we can ever have is Jesus Christ. He is the Rock of our salvation(Psalm 89:6). He is the lover of our souls. He loved us and died for us. Jesus will never fail us if we place our Hopes in Him.

In the most difficult moments of our lives, only Jesus will be there for us. Today, I want to urge you to make Jesus your only Anchor. Place all your trust and Hope in Jesus, He will never fail you. Stay blessed!

PRAYER LINE: Lord, today, I place all my hopes on you. You are my anchor and I know you will never fail me.
