Breakfast With Christ - Mercy Said No

BREAKFAST WITH CHRIST

TOPIC: MERCY SAID NO

SCRIPTURE: JOHN 8:11

"She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more."

Welcome to BWC. Have you ever felt so condemned for something you did wrong? Today, we look at how Jesus saved a woman who was caught in the sin of adultery.

One day, the Pharisees brought before Jesus a woman who was caught in the act of adultery. She was guilty. She stood condemned by the Jewish law and the laws of Moses. She was to be stoned to death. She had no defence. It was a dead end situation for the woman. But God's Mercy said NO.

Jesus was asked His opinion on the woman, after several minutes of ignoring the Pharisees, He told them to stone her if they themselves had no sin on them. Gradually, they all dropped their stones and left. That was God's Mercy at work.

Mercy is compassion or forgiveness shown towards someone whom it is within one's power to punish. God's first act of Mercy towards us was the death of Jesus on the Cross for our sins. Jesus' death paid the penalty for sin on our behalf. Now, we live under the Mercies of God.

God's Mercy says that even though you are guilty, you are not condemned. Whilst human beings are quick to condemn, God is quick to show us Mercy when we sin. God's Mercy endures so long as we are alive.

There is no Mercy after we die. When we die, God will either reward us or punish us for the lives we lived whilst on earth.

Today, don't allow humans to condemn you. Don't condemn yourself. God's Mercies are bigger than your sins or mistakes. People may be condemning you but God's Mercy says NO, you are not condemned. Don't sit in the bondage of self condemnation or guilt, come to God for Mercy. It doesn't matter what you may have done, God will forgive you.

If you are living under the burden of sin and guilt today, please run to God's Mercy throne to obtain forgiveness. Don't let your guilt stop you from coming to Jesus. Is God's Mercy a license to continue sinning? Absolutely NO. Jesus told the woman, "Go and sin no more". If not for the Mercies of God, we wouldn't be alive. Let's not take God's mercies for granted. Stay blessed.
