BREAKFAST WITH CHRIST
TOPIC: SHINE!
SCRIPTURE: ISAIAH 60:1
"Arise, shine; for your light has come! And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you".
Our Bible scripture for today started with a straight command from God "Arise, shine". This phrase isn't a suggestion nor an advice. It is a command. God is commanding us to shine. But what does it mean to shine? Shine means to glow or to reflect light.
In Matthew 5, Jesus declared us to be the light of the world. What this means is that Jesus is expecting us to shine. We being the light of the world presupposes that the world is in darkness. Light can only shine in darkness.
Your world is your family, your circle of friends, your work place. Where ever we find ourselves, God expects us to shine. We are not supposed to become part of the darkness but we are to illuminate the light of Christ in the darkness.
Our world today is full of sin and darkness, our job is not to complain about the darkness but to shine bright. Today, God is asking us His children to arise and shine. Shine in your family, shine among your friends, shine at your work place. Let people see you and see the light of Christ. But we can't do this if we are also part of the darkness. Darkness is the absence of light. So where ever you find yourself and there is darkness, all you need to do is to shine bright and the darkness will vanish.
Prayer line:
Father, please help me to shine and illuminate every darkness around me. May people see your light in me. Amen
