BREAKFAST WITH CHRIST
TOPIC: THE HIGHWAY OF SIN
SCRIPTURE: ROMANS 6:23
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord".
Welcome to BWC. What is sin? "A sin is any thought or action that falls short of God’s will" (Billy Graham). God has a perfect Will, anytime we fail to abide by His Will, we sin. Sin is also disobedience to the commands of God.
SIN CREATES SEPARATION
Nothing has the power to separate a man from God more than sin. Sin has been mentioned hundred of times in the scriptures. It is obvious God hates sin. The spirit of God cannot dwell with sin because He is a holy God.
Sin doesn't take God away from us, rather it takes us away from God. When Adam and Eve sinned, they left the presence of God but God still loved them. God doesn't hate the sinner, rather He wants all sinners to repent and come to Him. Sin separates us from God.
SIN LEADS TO DEATH
The wages of sin is death. Whilst physical death is natural, spiritual death is as a result of sin. A sinner is spiritually dead. You can be physically alive but spiritually dead due to sin. The final results of sin is to be condemned to eternal suffering after death (Matthew 25:41).
SMALL SIN, BIG SIN
Whilst the intention behind some sins and the physical consequences may be higher than other sins, a sin is a sin. The wages of ALL sins is death. God desires that we repent from ALL sins. No sin is too small to repent from.
CALL TO REPENTANCE
Since sin is so devastating, it is very important we repent from all sins and seek to walk with God in holiness. Sin has no benefits apart from temporary pleasures. The eternal consequence of sin is eternal death. No sinner will enter into Heaven.
Today, God is calling on us to repent from our sins and walk with Him in obedience. There is glory in walking in Holiness. Sin kills, Jesus gives eternal life. We need to decide whether we will continue in our sins or we will walk with God in Holiness.
