Are You Just A Church Goer Or You Are A Christian?
ARE YOU JUST A CHURCH GOER OR YOU ARE A CHRISTIAN?
Biblically, the church is meant to be the Body of Christ(Colossians 1:24). The church is meant to be the congregation of people who have been washed and redeemed by the Blood of Christ(Acts 2:48). Just after Jesus Christ left this earth, His followers began meeting in small groups to have fellowship(Acts 2:46).
In the early days of the church, the church was made up of people who were saved for God(Acts 2:47). Unfortunately, this isn't the case now. There are lots of people who go to church but have no personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
A church goer is a person who goes to church regularly. A church goer is not necessarily a Christian. These days, people have different reasons for going to church. Some people go to church just to make friends, others go to find a life partner and some too go just because their friends are all going.
The difference between a church goer and a Christian is that a Christian has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, a church goer just goes to church. A Christian spends time studying God's Word and abiding by it. A Christian spends time in prayer. More importantly, a Christian lives for Christ.
A church goer is a person who goes to church but still lives in continuous sin. Such a person hasn't truly repented from all his/her sins. Such a person claims to be a Christian but his/her lifestyle is completely different from that of Christ. An unrepentant sinner isn't a Christian.
A church goer takes pride in only being busy with church activities but has no interest in having a personal devotion with Jesus Christ. Anyone who goes to church but has no relationship with Jesus Christ is NOT a Christian but just a church goer.
Jesus Christ didn't die to make us church goers. He died so that we could be saved. It is important for every believer to be part of God's church. But let's examine our motives for going to church service every Sunday. Do you go to church because you love God?
When Jesus Christ returns, He isn't coming for people who just go to church. He is coming for people who have been washed and saved in His Blood. You may be going to church all these while, but are you truly saved? Is your name in God's Book of Life? Do you live for Jesus? Are you just a church goer or you are a citizen of Heaven?
