TOPIC: THE TRIALS OF A BELIEVER
SCRIPTURE: JOHN 16:33
"These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have troubles: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."
Welcome to BWC. There are many sugar-coated messages being preached which promise perfect trouble-free life in Christ Jesus. This is however unbiblical. The life of the believer is far from being trouble-free.
No man who walked with God in the Bible had an easy comfortable life. If you are following God, the world will fight you. Satan will fight you. You might lose some friends and family members. Some people who once liked you will hate you because of your christian faith.
The life of a believer is a difficult one and it gets more difficult as you grow in God. Going through troubles isn't limited to only Christians. Whether you are a Christian or not, you will face problems. The difference however is that the Christian has Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ is our only permanent advantage in this life. He makes all the difference in our lives. He is a friend like no other. He promised to be with us at all times. We have a God who never fails. He does what He says. There is nothing He can't do.
As Christians, our ultimate prize is eternal life in Heaven when we die. But before death, we still have a life to live on earth. This life will present us with a lot of trials and tribulations. When we face trials, we need to understand that God is with us and He shall deliver us.
As a Christian, you do not have to go through your afflictions alone, you have God. Why carry your burdens when you can lay them down at Jesus' feet? You have a friend in Jesus Christ. He is a friend you can always talk to. He is only a prayer away.
So why does God allow His children to go through a lot of afflictions? We will look at this question in our next breakfast. Stay blessed and stay strong in the Lord.
