BREAKFAST WITH CHRIST
TOPIC: CHRIST OUR PEACE
SCRIPTURE: John 16:33
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Welcome to BWC. There are lots of sermons that go out there inviting people to come to Christ so that all their problems can be over. So a lot of people become Christians expecting to have a perfect life. After a short while, when they start experiencing troubles, they get discouraged and backslide from their faith.
The truth is, as long as we remain in this world, our troubles will never be over, whether you are a Christian or a non Christian.
In our scripture for today, Christ was giving His final lessons to His followers before his crucifixion. Interestingly, He didn't promise them a trouble-free life in this world, instead He warned them of the many troubles ahead. However, He assures them that despite all their troubles, He will be their peace.
In a world full of darkness, we can only find peace in our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Both the Christian and non Christian go through the same troubles, the difference however is that we have peace in Jesus.
Jesus is our rock and our shelter, our anchor in the storms of life.
In Matthew 8:23-27, the presence of Jesus in the boat with His disciples didn't stop the storm from occurring, but when they called upon Jesus, there was peace.
In our daily lives, we may experience all sorts of storms and troubles. Some hit us hard and at unexpected times, in these moments, call upon the Lord of peace and He shall save you.
Let us always remember that Jesus didn't promise us a trouble free life, but He promised us peace in the midst of our troubles.
Let us therefore take courage in the promise of Jesus and depend on Him to see us through this life. May God strengthen us to endure the difficult moments. God bless you. SHALOM!
Prayer line:
Lord, I thank you for being my peace in the midst of all my troubles. May you continue to give me strength to endure. Amen.
