TOPIC: THE DANGERS OF SIN

SCRIPTURE: ROMANS 6:12

"Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires".

Welcome to BWC. We sin when we fall below the standard of God. For believers, God has a standard for us. This standard is Holiness. Anytime we fail to live in holiness, we are sinning. Sin has eternal consequences. Let's take a look at three dangers of sin.

1. SIN SEPARATES US FROM GOD

Nothing in this world has the power to separate us from our Heavenly Father except sin. A holy God cannot dwell in a sinful body. We cannot relate to God if we are living in sin. When Adam and Eve sinned, God sacked them from His presence. Sin breaks our relationship with God.

2. SIN MAKES US WEAK SPIRITUALLY

A believer who is living in sin cannot defeat Satan. Satan is the father of sin, when we live in sin, we are serving Satan. Sin renders us spiritually weak. We cannot operate in the power of God if we are living in sin. Sin makes us servants of Satan.

3. SIN KILLS

The wages of sin is death. Not just physical death but spiritual and eternal death. Heaven is a holy place where no sin shall enter. Any man who dies in sin has no eternal life in Heaven. Sin sends us to Satan's domain. Sin gives temporary pleasure but eternal destruction.

The only way to respond to sin is to repent from it. In Christ Jesus, God gave us the only solution to sin. The penalty for sin has already been paid by Christ. We need to therefore forsake all our sins and live for Jesus Christ. This is the only way we will escape the dangers of sin.
