SCRIPTURE: JAMES 5:16b

"The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much".

Welcome to BWC. "Jehovah Nissi" is a Hebrew description of God which means "the Lord our banner". This title for God was used in Exodus 17 by Moses when God helped the Israelites defeat the Amalekites. This was to honour God as the One who protects them and grants them victory in their battles.

The Lord is indeed our Banner. He goes before us and grants us victory in all our spiritual battles. Every believer is engaged in a spiritual battle with the forces of darkness. It is a battle between the Children of light and the children of darkness.

Prayer is our weapon. The Bible tells us that the effective prayer of the righteous man availeth much. The first question is: who is a righteous man? Under the dispensation of Grace, a righteous man is anyone who has been washed by the Blood of Christ and lives for God.

Every Christian is righteous because our righteousness comes from Christ not by our deeds. So the next question is: why are we not praying? If our prayers are that powerful, why do we spend so much time complaining about our problems instead of praying?

Prayer can change any situation. There is no situation you are in now that prayer cannot change. So why are you not praying? For our Jehovah Nissi to lead us into victory, our prayers must be effective.

To gain spiritual victory, we must pray consistently. Prayer must become our daily lifestyle. We must pray endlessly. We must also back out prayers with faith in God. God is able to do anything for us. We must put our trust in Him. Doubt must be far from us.

Today, call on the Lord who is your banner and He shall grant you victory in all situations. What are your struggles? Just pray and believe. God hasn't changed. If He did it for Moses and the Israelites, then He will do it for you too. Just pray.
