TOPIC: THE ADONAI

SCRIPTURE: JEREMIAH 32:27

“Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh..."

Welcome to BWC. "Adonai" is a Hebrew title which means LORD. This title is used in the Bible to refer to the Lordship of Yahweh. A Lord is "someone having power, authority, or influence; a master or ruler.”

Any time we call God "Adonai" or "Lord", we are affirming His authority over our lives. God is the Master of our lives. He created us in His glory and gave us life. Our lives belong to God. God controls our breath and our heartbeat. God is our LORD.

The title "Adonai" is used to show maximum respect to a ruler by his subjects. When we call God "LORD" we are declaring Him to be our King. As a King, God has absolute control over our lives. We live to serve our King. Our lives must be dedicated to the service of our LORD.

We cannot call God our Lord if we don't obey His Word. God cannot be our Adonai if we continue to disobey His Word. These are the words of Jesus Christ in Luke 6:46 "Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say?". Obedience is extremely important in our relationship with God.

Is God the Lord of your life? Have you handed over the control of your life to God? Have you surrendered to the Lordship of Jesus Christ? How often do you consult God before making important decisions? If God is your Adonai, do you obey His Word?

To affirm God as the Lord of your life, you need to be Born Again through the Blood of Jesus Christ. God cannot be your Adonai if you are still living in sin. For Yahweh to establish His authority over your life, you need to repent and surrender your life to Him. Have you done this?
