SCRIPTURE: ROMANS 12:1
"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service"
Welcome to BWC. As part of our series on "Total Consecration", today we look at the Consecration of our bodies to God.
CONSECRATION OF THE BODY
The total consecration of our lives to God also involves the consecration of our bodies to God. A consecrated spirit, mind and heart cannot live in a sinful body. For us to live a life that pleases God, we must fully sanctify our bodies to the glory of God.
Religion has been largely successful in deceiving us that we worship God only in our hearts. The truth is, you cannot possess a holy heart when your body is sinful. God doesn't only look at our hearts, He looks at our livesin totality. This also includes what we do with our bodies.
Total consecration of our bodies is about doing away with any impure thing that defiles our bodies. We cannot develop a relationship with God if we are involved in sexual sins. Sexual sins defile our bodies. They make us "dirty" before God. A Christian must at all cost avoid fornication and any other sin that defiles the body.
We must keep our bodies pure, holy and acceptable to the Lord. God cannot dwell in a sinful body. The Bible describes our bodies as the temple of God, we must therefore keep this temple pure and clean. We must repent from all sins and present a Holy Temple to God. Our bodies belong to God, not us.
The decency of our physical appearance also matters to God. We cannot continue to dress anyhow all in the name of fashion. Our fashion sense must be pleasing to God. Our dressing must not lure others to sin. Every thing about a Christian, including our physical appearance must draw others to Christ.
Have you Consecrated your body to God? Is your body a holy temple God can live in? Are you engaged in any sin especially sexual sin that is defiling your body? God is calling all of us to true repentance and holiness today.
