BREAKFAST WITH CHRIST
TOPIC: TOTAL CONSECRATION(IV)
SCRIPTURE: 1 PETER 3:15
"But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts..."
Welcome to BWC. As part of our series on "Total Consecration", today we look at the sanctification of our hearts.
SANCTIFICATION OF THE HEART
In 1 Peter 3:15, the Bible advices us to sanctify God in our hearts. To sanctify God in our hearts is to make God the center of our lives. Our hearts must be a home for God. The heart of a believer must be purified and made holy for the Lord. God cannot dwell in a sinful heart.
To sanctify our hearts, we need to do away with all forms of sin. Our hearts must be kept free from bitterness, rage, anger, hatred, unforgiveness and any negative emotions. We must repent from all these and allow the Spirit of God to cleanse our hearts.
Is your heart a place where God would want to be? The writer of Proverbs tells us to guard our hearts with all diligence(Proverbs 4:23). The best way to guard our hearts is to dedicate it to the Lord. We cannot however dedicate a sinful heart to the Lord, so the sanctification of our hearts is very important.
Your heart is the seat of all your emotions, if your heart is sinful, your actions will also be sinful. We must purify our hearts for the Lord. Our hearts must be full of love, kindness, patience, humility and all other good virtues.
Today, please search through your heart. If your heart isn't sanctified for the Lord, please come before God today and ask Him to help you sanctify your heart. A sinful heart cannot cultivate a holy relationship with a Holy God. Your heart must be for God.
PRAYER LINE
Lord, please make my heart a home where you can be. Amen
