BREAKFAST WITH CHRIST
TOPIC: LIVING A GODLY LIFE(II)
SCRIPTURE: 1 JOHN 1:9
" If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
Welcome to BWC. This is the second part of our series on "Living a Godly Life". Today we take a look at how to live a Godly life. The first step to living a godly life is repentance and consecration.
REPENTANCE
A renowned Minister of the Gospel, Charles Spurgeon defined repentance as "a discovery of the evil of sin, a mourning that we have committed it, a resolution to forsake it". The most important aspect of repentance is the decision not to go back to the sin again. So repentance always comes with a change in attitude or habit.
To live a godly life, we must possess a truly repented heart. We cannot live for God if we don't first repent from all our sins. It doesn't matter how many times we have asked God to forgive us, if we keep going back to the same sin again we haven't truly repented. God loves a repentant heart. It is not enough to be sorry for our sins, we must forsake them completely.
We must identify the sins in our lives that keep us from God and repent from them. God is a merciful God who shows us so much Grace. He is ever ready to forgive us if we approach Him in repentance.
CONSECRATION
Consecration is to deny yourself the pleasures of this world and wholly devote your life to God. To live a godly life, a life that pleases God, we must reject the carnality of this world and decide to live for God.
God doesn't want just to be a part of our lives, He wants to be our life. God deserves our full attention not just some of it. We must devote our lives to serve God. We must not sacrifice our eternal lives for the temporary pleasures of this world. We must live for God. We must be godly.
Today, please make a firm decision to live for God. Life in this world is extremely short and uncertain, living in sin is dangerous. You must repent and live for God. Reject the attractions of this world and live a godly life. Stay blessed.
