BREAKFAST WITH CHRIST
TOPIC: WHEN BEING GOOD ISN'T ENOUGH
SCRIPTURE: JOHN 3:3
"Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."
Welcome to BWC. In a conversation with Nicodemus, Jesus Christ gave us the one qualification we all need to gain entry to into Heaven, we must be born again.
There are some of us who think being good is enough to please God. The truth however is that our goodness minus Jesus Christ is useless before God. Doing good only makes us good people. Doing good will not necessarily take you to Heaven. The only way we can get to Heaven is by being born again.
Our good works do not cover our sins. Without Jesus Christ, we are all sinners. Doing good doesn't change this spiritual fact. We are not justified by our good works, we are only justified through the Blood of Jesus Christ.
If being good were enough to save us from our sins, Jesus wouldn't have died on the Cross for us. If you want to go to Heaven, then it is very necessary that you accept Jesus Christ and live for Him. You cannot please God with your good works if you are living in sin.
God will surely reward you for your good works but if you are not Born Again, you will surely not enter into Heaven. That's the hard truth. You can build hospitals for the poor, you can do monthly donations to orphanages, you can be very generous to the needy, but if you are not Born Again, you will still not go to Heaven.
You must be Born Again. You must live for Jesus Christ every day. Being a good person isn't enough, you must have a relationship with Jesus Christ. You cannot have Jesus and not do good but you can do good and not have Jesus. Doing good is good, but you must be Born Again.
PRAYER LINE
Lord, I accept I cannot be justified without You. Please save me. Amen.
