TOPIC: A CHARGE TO KEEP
SCRIPTURE: ACTS 1:8
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
Welcome to BWC. As followers of Jesus Christ, we all have a charge to keep. Jesus' main charge to us is for us to be His witnesses. Being witnesses of Christ encompasses so many things, today we will look at three of those things.
"A charge to keep I have, A God to glorify,
A never dying soul to save,
And fit it for the sky.
To serve the present age,
My calling to fulfill:
O may it all my powers engage
To do my Master's will!" (Charles Wesley)
A CHARGE TO LIVE FOR CHRIST
Our lives as Christians must reflect Jesus Christ. Jesus must be seen in all our conduct. Christianity isn't merely about church going, it is about living the life of Christ. We were bought by the blood of Christ, we don't belong to ourselves. We must live for Jesus Christ. If your lifestyle doesn't reflect Jesus, you are not His follower.
A CHARGE TO WALK IN LOVE
We cannot be followers of Jesus and still walk in bitterness, anger and unforgiveness. The love of God must be seen in us. We must love at all times even if it becomes difficult to do so. We must forgive, we must be kind and compassionate. We must love those who hate us. Doing these makes us true witnesses of Jesus Christ.
A CHARGE TO EVANGELISE
Evangelism is one word most Christians don't like to hear because most of us are failing in this aspect. One of the core and most important duties of a follower of Jesus Christ is to spread the Gospel of Christ. We must preach the gospel to those who are still not saved. This is a charge we cannot afford to ignore.
Are you a follower of Jesus? Are you keeping the Charge He has given you? Are you living for Jesus Christ? Are you walking in love? Are you spreading His Word? Are you being a witness of Jesus Christ? Please remember, one day you will give an account to God. Stay blessed.
