Breakfast With Christ - You Worry Too Much

BREAKFAST WITH CHRIST

TOPIC: YOU WORRY TOO MUCH

SCRIPTURE: LUKE 10:41-42

"And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”

Welcome to BWC. One day, Jesus and His disciples visited Martha and Mary in a small town. When they got there, Martha went to cook for Jesus whilst Mary sat down to listen to Jesus teach.

Martha obviously wasn't happy that her sister had left her to do all the chores alone. She complained to Jesus but instead of Jesus telling Mary to go and help her sister in the kitchen, Jesus gave Martha an interesting answer which we see in our scripture for today.

Martha choosing to go and cook for Jesus wasn't bad by itself. She was just being a good hostess. The problem was that she chose cooking over listening to the Word of God which Jesus was teaching Mary. Martha was worried about physical food whilst Mary was with Jesus eating spiritual food. At the end, Jesus commended Mary and chastised Martha.

Jesus's criticism of Martha may seem unfair to you but Jesus was teaching us a lesson there. The focus of our lives need to be God and not the affairs of this world. We simply worry too much about so many things. Our lives are filled with excessive worrying and fear. We hardly exercise any faith.

Child of God, Why are you so worried? Where is your faith? Today, God wants you to focus on Him and not your troubles. Satan has succeeded in filling us with so much fear that we have forgotten that there is God. We get scared over every little thing.

God doesn't want you to worry about anything. God doesn't want you to be scared of anything. He is there for you. God is your healer, He is your deliverer, He is your every thing. Why are you worried? There is nothing you are going through that God can't deliver you from. So why are you worried instead of praying?

Today, let go of all your fears and worries. Focus on God. Stop being worried about the affairs of this world. You have a Father in Heaven who will never fail you. You need to trust Him and have faith. Stay blessed!
