TOPIC: THE ARMOUR OF GOD

SCRIPTURE: EPHESIANS 6:11

"Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil".

Welcome to BWC. In our scripture for today, Paul encouraged us to put on the WHOLE ARMOUR OF GOD. What is an armour? An armour is a metallic protective covering worn by soldiers in battle. The main purpose of the armour is to protect.

In this scripture, Paul told us the purpose of wearing the armour of God, ie to help us stand against the schemes of the devil. The devil plots several schemes against the people of God. We cannot survive on our own without God's protective armour.

In the verse 12, Paul made us aware that we are not fighting against human beings. As Christians, our chief enemy is Satan. Satan only uses human agents to advance his agenda against us. Our target therefore doesn't have to be humans but Satan himself.

Every Christian is in a spiritual battle not a physical one. We therefore need spiritual preparations not physical ones. The good news is that Jesus already won this battle for us against Satan on the Cross. All we need is to stand well with the whole armour of God.

According to Ephesians 6:14-18, these are the components of the Whole Armour of God:

1. Belt of TRUTH.

2. Breastplate of RIGHTEOUSNESS.

3. Shoe of the GOSPEL OF PEACE.

4. Shield of FAITH.

5. Helmet of SALVATION.

6. Sword of the Spirit(WORD OF GOD).

Let us note Paul's emphasis on "WHOLE". We are to put on the whole armour of God. If we are to stand any chance against Satan in this spiritual battle, we need all the components of the armour listed above.
