BREAKFAST WITH CHRIST
TOPIC: THOUGH HE SLAY ME
SCRIPTURE: JOB 13:15
"Though he slay me, yet will I trust in Him... ".
Welcome to BWC. Today, we take a look at Job's incredible show of resilience and perseverance in the face of difficulty. Job was an upright man who hated evil and worshipped God faithfully. He was blessed by God. He was wealthy and had everything going well for him until one day, Satan decided to test Job's faith in God(Job 1:7-12).
One day, everything came crushing down for Job. He lost all his wealth, his ten children and everything else he possessed. This was a devastating moment for a man who worshipped God faithfully. Many of us would have asked God "why me"?
But when Job received the news, his first action was to tear his clothes, shave his hair and fall to the ground to worship God. When Satan realized Job still didn't give up on God, He struck Him again with a skin disease. At this point, Job's wife, friends and everyone else turned against him and advised him to give up on God. But Job stood firm in his faith.
How many of us can stand firm for God even if God takes away all that we have including our health? Do we worship God because of our physical possessions or we worship Him because of who He is? Many of us give up on God in the face of the least trouble. We simply hate to go through any pain. The truth is the presence of difficulties in our lives doesn't indicate the absence of God.
We don't need to be fair weather worshippers who worship God only when everything seems fine with us. We are to remain faithful to God even in difficult times.
In Act's 16, Paul and Silas were thrown in prison but that didn't stop them from singing praises to God. When we stand firm for God in the face of challenges, God comes through for us. God never gives up on anyone who stands for Him. At the end of the story, God restored Job's wealth and blessed him even more.
Dear friend, don't give up on God when times are hard. God is God in both good and bad times. In good times, be faithful to God, in bad times too be faithful to God. We are to worship God at all times not only when things are fine with us. Let your faith be bigger than your circumstances. Stand strong for God and He will never disappoint you. Stay blessed!
