BREAKFAST WITH CHRIST
TOPIC: WISODM FROM ABOVE
SCRIPTURE: JAMES 1:5
"If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you".
Welcome to BWC. The word "Wisdom" appeared in the Hebrew Bible over 222 times. The commonest Hebrew translation of the word "wisdom" is "Chokhmah" which means "to be wise". The online dictionary defines wisdom as "the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgement; the quality of being wise".
In Proverbs 4:7, the Bible advises us to get wisdom. So how do we get wisdom? The Bible offers us two solutions. The first can be found in Proverbs 9:10 "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding".
The second way can be found in the Book of James 1:5 which is our scripture for today.
We all go to school to obtain knowledge. But knowledge is useless if not applied appropriately. To apply knowledge, you need wisdom. Human wisdom comes through experience. But the Bible clearly tells us in Colosians 4:5 that the foolishness of God is even wiser than human wisdom.
Therefore, if we want to walk in the ways of God, what we should be aiming for is the wisdom that comes from God. Solomon knew this so when God asked him what he wanted, he smartly told God he wanted wisdom. Solomon became the wisest man to ever lived before Jesus Christ was born.
The wisdom from above will make us think like God. The wisdom from above will make us know the Will of God in all situations. The wisdom from above will make us walk in holiness. We cannot operate in human wisdom and still walk with God, we need godly wisdom.
God is ever ready to give us His kind of wisdom, so let's approach the throne of God in all humility and ask God to give us wisdom to live for Him. Stay Blessed!
