TOPIC: THE SACRIFICIAL LAMB

SCRIPTURE: JOHN 1:29

"The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world".

Welcome to BWC. Throughout the Bible, Jesus has been described in several ways. But when it comes to our sins, He was described as a lamb. Why a lamb?

Under the Old Covenant God had with the Israelites, the High Priest was to enter into the Inner Room of the temple to offer a lamb as a sacrifice on behalf of the Israelites so that their sins could be forgiven. The lamb was to be without any blemish. The lamb was to be slain and the blood used for the sacrifice(Leviticus 4:32-35).

The Israelites obeyed this for centuries but when the set time had come, God sent a bigger Lamb, a Lamb from Heaven to come and die once and for all for our sins. To deal with the issue of sin forever, a superior blood was needed. The blood of a mere animal was no more enough.

Because the lamb had to be pure and sinless, an ordinary human blood was not worthy to take away humanity's sins. So God Himself had to descend in the form of a human being to bleed and die on the Cross to take away our sins forever. It had to take the Divine Blood of Jesus Christ to save you and me.

If you are reading this now, please know that it cost God so much to save you from your sins and hell fire. He took upon Himself all your pains, your sicknesses, and your sins and went through all the humiliation just so that you won't have to go to hell when you die.

So dear friend, why do you still prefer living in the sinful pleasures of this world instead of living for Jesus Christ? God has done His part by dying for you, if you don't do your part by accepting Him, you will have to suffer the penalty for your sins.

Sin is sweet but the consequences are always bitter. Beware! Time is running out for you. You need to repent now and live for Jesus. Remember, Life is Short. God is gracious. He loves you.
