TOPIC: DELIGHT YOURSELF IN THE LORD
SCRIPTURE: PSALM 37:4
"Delight yourself in the LORD,
and he will give you the desires of your heart."
Welcome to BWC. There are lots of things our heart desires. We all desire to achieve something in this life. We are always in a constant state of need. Today, the Bible is telling us that if we delight ourselves in the Lord, He shall fulfil our desires. So what does it mean to delight yourself in the Lord?
To delight yourself in something is to find great happiness or satisfaction in the thing. There are lots of people who are trying to find delight in money, fame and power. Some too are trying to find satisfaction in other human beings. The truth however is that we can only find great satisfaction in the Lord.
Only God can satisfy us. Money can't, no human being can. To delight ourselves in the Lord, we need to:
1. MAKE GOD OUR PRIORITY
One of the most instructive verses in the Bible is "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and it's righteousness...". We are to seek God first, not money first. God and not money or material things need to be our priority in this world. If you make humans or money your priority, you will never find great satisfaction in them.
We only find great satisfaction when we make God our priority. God over money, God over humans, God over everything else. When you make God the priority, He grants the desires of your heart. Let your heart truly delight in serving God.
2. LIVE TO PLEASE ONLY GOD
You won't find great satisfaction if you live to please human beings. You belong to God, so why are you trying hard to please your fellow human being? Some of us will rather please people than please God. We will rather obey humans than obey God. Trying to please people will lead you to sin.
Friends, if we want to delight ourselves in the Lord, we need to make Him our priority and we also need to live to please Him. Doing these, will get us closer to Him then He will fulfil the desires of our heart because, when we are close to God, His desires become our desires. Let us live for God. Stay blessed.
