BREAKFAST WITH CHRIST
TOPIC: SURVIVING THE STORM(II)
SCRIPTURE: 2 TIMOTHY 2:3
"You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ"
Welcome to BWC. In our previous edition, we looked at how the storms of life attack us. Today, we will look at how we can survive the storm.
In times of crisis, it is easy for us to go into panic mode. Our faith may get destabilized, our trust in God may dwindle. We may lose our friends. One thing we need to understand is that the purpose of the storm isn't to destroy us but to test how deep rooted we are in God. As a Christian, God won't allow you to go through anything that will destroy you.
So how do we survive, when we are hit hard by a storm?
STAY FOCUSED ON GOD
What you focus on during a difficult time will determine if you will survive or not. Our focus in life determines our direction. When we are in a difficult situation, we can choose to focus on the problem or we can choose to focus on God. Storms have the tendency to distract our attention. Yet, the more we focus on the problem, the bigger the problem gets.
Several times in the Bible, God promised to be with us. The truth is God is always with us. His silence doesn't mean He is absent. So even in our most difficult moments, we can trust that God will be with us. What we need to do is to resist the temptation of focusing on our problems instead of focusing on God. You need to stay focused on God no matter what you are going through.
FAITH
Having complete faith in God is very difficult. It is even more difficult when we are in crisis and God seems silent. You can easily lose your faith in the times of a storm. But without faith in God, we are not likely to survive a storm.
Faith tells us that though our current situation looks bad, God is able to change it. We must believe that there is nothing God cannot do for us. He loves us that much. In crisis, Satan will try to deceive us into thinking that God has abandoned us, but God never abandons us. When you are in crisis, please don't give up. Keep up your faith in God.
It is not easy to survive a storm, but with the right attitude, we can survive it. God is a faithful God, He won't allow us to be tested beyond what we can bear. Jesus Christ is our Prince of Peace, He will give us peace in the midst of the storm. If you are going through a storm, please know that God knows about your situation and He has a plan for you. It is well with you. Stay blessed!
PRAYER LINE
Lord, thank you for never abandoning me. Please help me go through any crisis that will come my way. Amen.
