BREAKFAST WITH CHRIST
TOPIC: SURVIVING THE STORM
SCRIPTURE: ISAIAH 41:10
"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
Welcome to BWC. We all wish our lives as Christians could be smooth and trouble free. Unfortunately, we can't have our wish granted. The Christian life is far from being a smooth one. Once a while, in our lives, we are hit by a storm. Some of the storms are so devastating that they question our faith in God and bring us down to our knees.
In many parts of the world, before a natural disaster happens, the authorities identity the danger and warn their citizens. They plan on how to evacuate people to a safer place before the disaster strikes. Unfortunately for us, in our lives, the storms that hit us so hard don't forewarn us before coming.
Let's look at the story of Job recorded in the book of Job in the Bible. He was living a good life with his family until one day, the unexpected happened. He was hit by the storm of life and he lost everything. Just how do you survive such a storm even as a Christian?
The storm of life could be a major chronic illness, it could be the sudden death of a loved one, it could be a vehicle accident, it could be losing one's job, it could be any uncomfortable situation which threatens our survival.
You are a Christian, you have faith in God, you worship Him faithfully, then one day, something terrible happens to you that you were not even expecting, how do you survive that and still trust in God? How do you keep standing for God in the face of a difficult situation? When you are in serious crisis that you can't see any way out, can you still have faith in God?
If you haven't been in any storm before, you won't quite understand what it means to be in one. It takes a lot of Grace to survive difficult times. One thing we need to know is that God is with us even in the most difficult of circumstances, God doesn't leave us simply because we are going through a difficult time. Our God is ever dependable. In our next BWC, we will look at how we can survive difficult situations. Stay blessed.
PRAYER LINE
Lord, thank you for the strength you have given me to withstand difficult times. Amen.
