BREAKFAST WITH CHRIST
TOPIC: GOD, OUR REFUGE
SCRIPTURE: PSALM 91:3
"I will say of the LORD, 'He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
Welcome to BWC. In our Scripture for today, the Psalmist described God as his Refuge and Fortress. Refuge is "the state of being safe or sheltered from pursuit, danger, or difficulty". A fortress is "a large fortified place'.
In Isaiah 12:2, Prophet Isaiah said “Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the LORD GOD is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.”
These two scriptures are only two of so many Scriptures in the Bible that seek to give us comfort in times of trouble. Our God is ever dependable. When you are weak, tired and afraid, you can run to God who is our fortress.
God will keep you safe from all harm, God is our refuge against the strong attacks of the enemy. The Hand of the Lord will shield us from all arrows of the evil one. When you are with God, you have nothing to be afraid of. God will protect you even when you are not aware of it.
In Psalm 91:1, David told us what we must do to be protected by God, "He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty". The question is; are you dwelling in the secret place of God?
The secret place of God is where the awesome presence of God is. To dwell in the secret place of God is to dwell in the Will of God. To dwell in the Will of God is to obey the Word of God. So are you obeying the Word of God or are you living contrary to the Word of God?
To be sure you are under the protection of God, you need to make sure your life is consistent with God's Word. We must avoid any thing the Bible calls a sin and pursue holiness. We must make a conscious effort to obey God. When we do this, then the protection of the Lord will be with us. Stay blessed.
PRAYER LINE:
Lord, thank you for always protecting me from danger. Please help me to live according to your Will. Amen.
