BREAKFAST WITH CHRIST
TOPIC: THE SPOILED VESSEL
SCRIPTURE: JEREMIAH 18:4
"But the vessel he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another vessel, shaping it as seemed best to him.
Welcome to BWC. Today, we look at an experience Prophet Jeremiah had in the house of the Potter. One day, Jeremiah went to the potters' house as directed by God. When he got there, the Potter was making a vessel with clay. The vessel however got spoiled in his hands. The Potter didn't throw it away, he made it again into another vessel. Three things stand out in this story.
1. WE ARE VESSELS IN GOD'S HAND.
If you are a child of God then you are a vessel in the Hands of God. Your life is being directed and controlled by God. You are not a finished product. You are a work in progress. God is moulding you into something great. Until the Lord is done with you, you need to be patient.
2. THE SPOILED VESSEL
The surprising thing from this story is how the vessel got marred even in the hands of the Potter. The truth is our lives can take the wrong turn even as children of God. That wrong turn isn't caused by God but by ourselves. Sometimes when we don't obey God's Word, our lives can take the wrong turn even in the Hands of God. Our daily choices, the relationships we enter can cause serious issues in our lives.
3. GOD DOESN'T GIVE UP ON US
The good news however is that God doesn't give up on us. Even when our own disobedience cause our lives to go wrong, God doesn't throw us away. Just as the Potter re-made the vessel into another vessel, God is continually working on us to fulfill His divine purpose in our lives. Even when we give up on ourselves, God doesn't.
Today, God wants you to know that He hasn't given up on you. He never will. Your past mistakes might have caused your life to take the wrong turn but don't be discouraged, God is still working on you. Just humble yourself and allow God's Will to be done in your life.
You might be deep into a particular sin and you feel there is no way back for you, please know this, no matter how spoiled the vessel was, the Potter still made it into a different vessel. God loves you and He wants you to repent and He will turn your life around. Don't give up when God hasn't given up. God's Grace is sufficient for you. Stay blessed!
PRAYER LINE:
Lord, thank you for never giving up on me even when I gave up on myself. Amen.
