TOPIC: LIVING FOR GOD (II)
SCRIPTURE: JOHN 14:15
"If ye love me, keep my commandments".
Welcome to BWC. This is the part two of our series "Living for God". Today we take a look at one of the most important ingredients every believer needs in order to live for God.
OBEDIENCE
Obedience simply means abiding by the Word of God. In our scripture for today, Jesus told us that if we love Him we will obey His commandments. This means that if we don't obey God, then we don't love Him. No one can walk with God and live for Him without obedience. In fact, the first sin man committed against God was disobedience.
In the Old Testament, any time the Israelites disobeyed God, they faced God's wrath. God simply hates disobedience. To live for God in this world, we need to obey the Word of God. We cannot be true followers of Christ without obeying His Word.
In Mark 12:30-31, Jesus commanded us to love God and then to love our neighbours. This is a command we need to obey. In Matthew 28:19, Jesus commanded us to Go out and preach His Word. This is also another command we need to obey. The Bible tells us how God wants us to live, the things to do and the things not to do.
In obeying God, we need to understand that whatever the Bible calls a sin is a sin. Now, the world has found new ways of disobeying God. We have branded sin nicely and given it enticing names. Disobeying God is the order of the world. We have found smart ways to sin. If we want to live for God, we need to live beyond the standards of this world. Our only guide must be the Bible. Holiness has to be our lifestyle.
In Luke 11:28, Jesus said “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.” If you live in obedience to God's Word, you are Blessed. You will obtain blessings from God. God rewards our obedience. Abraham obeyed God and God blessed Him abundantly. We cannot expect God to answer our prayers if we don't obey His Word. To live for God and be blessed, we need to obey the Word of God.

Lord, please I am sorry for the times I disobeyed your Word. Please help me to live for you in obedience. Amen.
