BREAKFAST WITH CHRIST
TOPIC: FORCES OF DISTRACTION
TEXT: HEBREWS 12:1-2
"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,"
2 "fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."
Welcome to BWC. As Christians, our main focus is Jesus Christ. We are redeemed from the bondage of sin to live for Jesus Christ. Yet more often than not, we get distracted by the issues of life. A distraction is anything that keeps you from focusing on something else.
Life presents us with different distractions. It could be the desire to be rich, the desire to excel in our careers, it could be some health issues or even human distractions. Focusing on any of these may not be exactly bad but they should never distract us from focusing on our Lord. When we make Jesus Christ our focus, everything else falls into place.
In this life, we will always have challenges and troubles but they should never distract us from focusing on God. Developing an intimate personal relationship with Jesus Christ must at all times remain our focus. All the things we face in this world are temporary, only our relationship with Jesus will matter when we die
Let's look back at the things we used to value few years ago. Now, they are either outmoded or even forgotten. Few years ago, Nokia 1100 used to be a stylish phone, now, how many of us value Nokia 1100? The luxuries of yesterday are rags today. Never let a material thing become your focus in this life. Don't let the desire to get money distract you from working out your salvation.
All is vanity. Nothing remains forever. Let's lay aside all the worries of this life and focus on our Lord Jesus Christ. Refuse to be distracted, Jesus Christ is the only one worth our total focus. Stay blessed.
PRAYER LINE:
Lord, please help me to focus on only you. Amen.
