Welcome to another BWC. In our last edition, we looked at how the Holy Spirit of God empowers us to be witnesses of Christ. Today, we will look at how we can be true witnesses of Jesus.
A witness is an evidence or a proof. To be a witness of Christ is to serve as an evidence or a proof of Christ to the world. One of the most important commands Jesus gave us is for us to win souls for Him. For a Christian, soul winning isn't an option, it is a duty of every Christian not just pastors or evangelists.
We can win souls by being effective witnesses of Christ. We must proclaim to the world who Jesus Christ is. If the world is going to accept Christ and be free from the bondage of sin, then we those who are already saved need to be a witness to them.
HOW TO BE A WITNESS
Two very effective and essential ways of being a witness are through our character and evangelism. Evangelism is the act of publicly preaching the gospel of Christ to people with the aim of winning them for Christ. Witnessing is however broader than evangelism. Evangelism is a subset of witnessing.
As Christians, our lives must preach Christ. Christianity isn't about what you preach, it is more about what you do. If our characters are not consistent with the Gospel of Christ, we won't win the World for Jesus. Our characters need to be witnesses of the amazing salvation power of Christ. The world is watching us.
Everything we do, from the way we talk, the way we dress, the way we relate to others must draw others to Christ. Being a witness of Christ is about how your lifestyle as a Christian must win souls for Jesus. We can't physically preach to everyone, but people must see our lifestyle and be drawn to Jesus. That is how to be a witness of Christ. Is your lifestyle drawing people to Jesus? Stay blessed!
