BREAKFAST WITH CHRIST

TOPIC: BORN OF THE SPIRIT

SCRIPTURE: JOHN 3:5 "Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."

Welcome to BWC. Today, we continue with our studies on the Holy Spirit of God. Among all the things the Holy Spirit does, one of the most important is that the Holy Spirit gives birth to a new believer. This is termed as the "rebirth" or the "regeneration".

THE REGENERATION ROLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT Every human being born into this world was born in sin(except Jesus Christ). Christ's death on the cross set the tone for the salvation of humanity. However, it is the Holy Spirit that carries out the Salvation work in us.

When a human being hears the Word of God, the Holy Spirit convicts the person of sin and causes the person to repent. When the person repents and accepts Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit then regenerates the person's spirit.

To regenerate is to make something new or to reborn something. When we accept Christ, a spiritual metamorphosis takes place. Instantly, our old sinful nature is taken away and replaced with a new one. The Spirit of the Lord gives birth to a new creature. The person is born again. Not born of flesh but born of the Spirit.

The born again Christian is not an improved version of an old person but a totally new person. This new person has been transformed from being a candidate of hell to a citizen of Heaven. This is a spiritual change of identity.

The truth is, no one can go to Heaven except the person gets born again by the Holy Spirit. No matter how good we are, we cannot get to Heaven without being born again. Our parents gave birth to us in sin, there is the need for us to be born again by the Spirit of God so that our sins would be washed away. This is the only way we can get to heaven. If you are not born again, it means you are still in your old sinful nature and Heaven doesn't recognize you. YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN. ARE YOU BORN AGAIN?

If you are indeed born again, the Spirit of God is in you, but what are some of the things that will indicate that you are really born again? We will look at that in our next breakfast. Stay blessed.
