SCRIPTURE: 1 CORINTHIANS 5:21

"He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him".

Welcome to BWC. This is the sixth part of our series on "who is Jesus Christ"?

JESUS CHRIST IS OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS

The dictionary defines righteousness as "the quality of being morally right or justifiable". In the Bible however, righteousness is the state of being spiritually justifiable before God. The truth is no human being by himself/herself can become justifiable before God. Even our best attempt to be righteous is like a filthy rags before God.

So to deal with the issue of sin, there was a divine exchange. Jesus Christ died on the Cross for us. When He died, He took upon Himself our sinful nature and gave us His nature of divine righteousness. So that anyone who believes in Him, will become justifiable before God. Therefore, every Christian is righteous but we are only righteous because of Jesus Christ.

Righteousness gives us the ability to do right. Righteousness gives us the ability to love and worship God. Righteousness gives us the ability to do what God wants. Without the righteousness of Jesus Christ in us, we would never be able to go to heaven. Righteousness is not about what we do, righteousness is who we are in Christ. Glory be to God. Stay blessed!
