OVERCOMING THE FEELING OF GUILT
Guilt is a negative emotion we experience when we do something wrong. The feeling of guilt can be a very troubling feeling. All of us have at one time or the other experienced this negative feeling of guilt. Sometimes it becomes so deep that it eats us up and affect our self esteem and confidence. Some people even commit suicide because of the feeling of guilt. We all go through this feeling once in a while, so how do we deal with it?
AS GOD FOR FORGIVENESS
If you genuinely know what you have done was wrong, then the first stage to dealing with the guilt is to ask God for forgiveness. When we kneel before God and ask Him to forgive us for our wrongs, He gives us peace to take away the guilt. To deal with your guilt, you need to make peace with God first.
FORGIVE YOURSELF
When you make peace with God, the next stage is to make peace with yourself. Forgive yourself and let it go. None of us is perfect. No one is above falling for a temptation. When God forgives us, we also need to forgive ourselves and free our heart from the guilt. If we have hurt someone through our actions, it is also very important we accept our mistakes and apologize.
MOVE ON
When you are done forgiving yourself, please move on. God has forgiven you, you have forgiven yourself, there is no need to continue holding on to your mistakes. Please let it go and move on with your life. If you have offended anyone, just apologize and move on. Don't focus on your mistakes and live in the guilt. You need to move on.
We all make mistakes, we all do things we probably shouldn't have done. But that only makes us humans. No need to live in continuous guilt. We need to make peace with God and ourselves and move on.
