The Vanity Of Life
THE VANITY OF LIFE
A wise man called King Solomon once declared that all in this world is vanity. Solomon wasn't poor in any way. In fact He is one of the wealthiest men to ever lived. Despite all his wealth and power, he realized all was vanity. Nothing in this world lasts forever, not even money.
To understand the state most of us are in this world, let's look at this story. There was once a man who found honey in a tree. Unfortunately for him, the branch which had the honey was weak and gradually falling off.
However, the man, deceived by the sweetness of the honey didn't care to jump to a safe ground nearby. He continued to lick the honey and enjoyed it's pleasure, before he could realize, the branch had fallen off and the man perished with his honey.
Ladies and gentlemen, this story perfectly depicts the lives most of us live in this world.
√ The honey in this story represents the pleasures of this world.
√ The falling branch represents the shortness of life.
√ The safe ground the man failed to jump to represents Jesus Christ.
Our life in this world is very short. That is the truth. Yet most of us get deceived by the allure of wealth, fame and power. These are all vanities. The real substance of life is Jesus Christ. It is obvious that the man in the story won't even get buried with the honey yet he sacrificed his life simply because of the temporary pleasure he was getting from the honey.
No matter how rich you are you won't leave this world with your money. Even if they bury you with the most expensive coffin, it will still be of no use to you in death.
Life is all about finding our purpose in Jesus Christ. Don't spend all your life chasing after temporal things like money and power, seek Jesus Christ and live for Him. Life is so short.
