Breakfast With Christ - The Pure In Heart

BREAKFAST WITH CHRIST

TOPIC: THE PURE IN HEART

SCRIPTURE: MATTHEW 5:8

"Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God".

Today, we continue with our studies on Jesus' sermon on the mountain. In today's message, Jesus is assuring us that if we are pure in heart, we shall see God. What does it mean to be in pure in heart?

The English word 'pure' comes from the Greek word "katharos" which means to be clean, blameless and free from guilt. Our hearts are the central governing authority of our lives. All things proceed from our hearts. Proverbs 4:23 says "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it". So we can see why purity of our hearts is very important to Jesus.

To be pure in heart, first we need to surrender our hearts to God, then allow the Blood of Christ to purify our hearts from sin. A pure heart is a heart that desires to do only the Will of God and nothing else. A pure heart loves God. A pure heart obeys the Word of God. A pure heart doesn't plan evil nor partake in evil. A pure heart loves and forgives freely.

Brethren, the state of our hearts is very important if we are to see God. We can't be Christians and still plan evil against people, we can't be Christians and still hate people, we can't be Christians and still partake in sexual sins. Jesus said if we are pure in heart, we shall see God. Hebrews 12:14 says without holiness, we cannot see God. May God have mercy on us. Stay blessed!

Prayer line:

Lord, I submit my heart to you. Please create in me a pure heart and help me to live a holy life for you. Amen.
