Breakfast With Christ - Importance Of Morning Devotion

BREAKFAST WITH CHRIST

TOPIC: IMPORTANCE OF MORNING DEVOTION

SCRIPTURE: MARK 1:35

"Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed."

A devotion is an act of prayer or private worship. A devotion is about reading God's Word, worshipping God through songs and praying to God. It is very important that every Christian spends some personal time before God daily. We can either have a devotion in the morning or in the evening. There are however some benefits to doing our devotions early in the morning. Let's look at some of these benefits.

STRENGTH FOR THE DAY

The purpose of a devotion is to have a personal time with God. Spending time with our maker is extremely important to our survival on this earth. It is very important that we wake up in the morning and spend time with God before we step out. Doing this will give us strength to face any challenge we are likely to face in the day.

TO SEEK GUIDANCE

As mortals, we cannot see into the future. But we have a God who knows the end from the beginning. Before we start each new day, it is important we go to God for guidance. God's Word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path(Psalms 119:105). When we spend time reading God's Word in the morning, God directs our paths for the day.

Brethren, spending time with our Maker is very important for our spiritual growth. We cannot survive if we don't have a personal relationship with God. Let's imitate the example of Jesus in our Bible text for today and make it a point to observe our morning devotions each morning before we start the day. Stay blessed!

Prayer line:

Father, thank you for the opportunity to come before your presence each day, please direct my path and give me the strength to face today. Amen
