BREAKFAST WITH CHRIST
TOPIC: OUR MIRROR OF LIFE
SCRIPTURE: James 1:23-24
"Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like".
Most of us, if not all of us have mirrors at home we look into to see if everything is alright with our physical appearance before we step out. Mirrors reflect our physical image. As Christians, our mirror of life is the Word of God. The problem is most of us forget to use this Mirror daily.
THE SUPREMACY OF GOD'S WORD
The Holy Bible contains the Word of God. The Bible said in 2 Timothy 3 that all scripture is given by inspiration of God. So we firmly believe that every word in the Bible is there because God wants it to be there. It is strange that some Christians have the Bible yet they still complain that God doesn't speak to them.
Every time we read the scriptures, God is speaking to us. But we can't understand the Holy Words of God with our human wisdom.
Our spirits need to be attentive to the Holy Spirit for us to understand God's Word. God's Word is supreme. You want to know the mind of God? Spend time reading His Word.
THE BIBLE, OUR MIRROR
In our Bible verse for today, James described God's Word as a mirror. God gave us His Word to guide our lives in this world. Every instruction we need to live a godly life is in the Bible. We need to look at God's Word daily and see where we are going wrong so that we can quickly repent.
No Christian can live outside the Word of God. If you want to know if you are doing God's Will, just look into the Mirror of our lives, the Bible. Just as we look into our glass mirrors daily, we also need to daily look into the Word of God so that we can live our lives in accordance with the Will of God.
Prayer line:
Lord, please help me to read your word daily so that I can live according to your Will. Amen.
