BREAKFAST WITH CHRIST
TOPIC: RUN BACK TO GOD
SCRIPTURE: 1 John 1:9
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."
Over the past two days, we have been looking at how to overcome temptations. It is the desire of God that we overcome temptations. But as humans, our imperfections means that we will once in a while fall to sin. So what must we do when we fall for temptations and sin against God?
DON'T LIVE IN GUILT
The Holy Spirit of God will always convict us of sin. He doesn't convict us for us to remain in our guilt but for us to repent.
When we sin, we don't need to remain in the guilt and continue to cry or feel bad everyday. Some of us sometimes feel we are so holy that we can't sin, so when we fall, we get so disappointed that we find it difficult to go back to God. None of us is above temptations or falling.
We need to understand that God knows our weaknesses, so he isn't surprised when we fall, but he doesn't want us to remain fallen.
BE QUICK TO REPENT
When we sin, God wants us to repent. Repentance isn't only about asking for forgiveness nor crying before God. Repentance means 'turn around'.
To repent means to regret your actions and to change. Repentance doesn't mean to ask for forgiveness and go back to repeat the same sin again. Anytime we fall for temptations, we need to quickly go before God, ask for forgiveness and repent. But let's not take God's Grace for granted and continue to deliberately sin because we know we will be forgiven. Stay blessed!
Prayer line:
Lord, may your Spirit continue to convict me of my sins and lead me to repentance. Amen
