BREAKFAST WITH CHRIST
TOPIC: SURVIVING THE WILDERNESS (part 3)
SCRIPTURE: ROMANS 8:28
"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose".
In our previous two editions of BWC, we looked at what the wilderness is and how to survive the wildernesses of life. Today, we will look at some of the reasons God allows us to go through the wilderness.
Going through difficult times in life isn't really a comfortable experience to have. People often wonder why Christians must go through lots of troubles despite having God. But as we saw in the part 1 of this series, some of the wildernesses we go through are actually ordained by God himself. So why does God allow us to go through certain challenges in life?
TEST OF FAITH
Every challenge God allows us to go through has a purpose. One of the main reasons God sometimes allows us to go through the wilderness is to test our faith in Him. It is easy to say we have faith when all is well with us. But can you still trust God when you are going through the wilderness and God seems silent? In order to develop our faith, God will sometimes allow us to go through difficult situations that will build our faith. The situations aren't meant to destroy us but to test the depth of our faith in God.
TO MAKE US STRONG
Every single person, who is strong in God got their strength from enduring a difficult situation. Strength isn't a gift God gives us, God builds our strength in Him. It is always said that what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. Some of the troubles we go through are meant to make us stronger. Gold is taken through fire to refine it. If you can endure the wilderness, you will come out stronger.
TO TRAIN US
The wilderness is a good training ground. Uncomfortable situations sometimes have a way of bringing out the best in us. David, had to spend some time in the wilderness fighting wild beasts before God allowed Him to fight Goliath. Moses had to spend about 40 years in the wilderness leading sheep before God allowed him to lead the Israelites. Jesus spent 40 days fasting in the wilderness before He started His ministry. If you want to walk with God, you must be ready to endure very uncomfortable situations. May God give us the strength to endure. Stay blessed!
Prayer line
Lord, thank you for every situation in my life. Today, I surrender my will to you. Please let your Will be done in my life.
