Breakfast With Christ - Ambassadors For Christ

BREAKFAST WITH CHRIST

TOPIC: AMBASSADORS FOR CHRIST

SCRIPTURE: 2 CORINTHIANS 5:20

"We are therefore Christ's ambassadors..."

Paul in his letter to the church at Corinth described us as "ambassadors for Christ". Who is an ambassador? What does it mean to be an ambassador of Christ?

In simple terms, an ambassador is a respected representative of one country in another country. Ghana has ambassadors in so many countries all over the world. The job of an ambassador is to represent his home country in the foreign country where he is serving. An ambassador therefore doesn't represent himself. His/her major aim is to do the bidding of his/her home country.

As Christians, we are in this world but we are not of the world. Heaven is our home country. We are called to represent Heaven here. We are therefore Christ's ambassadors on earth. We belong to God's kingdom and our main aim should be to do the Will of our God. As Christ's ambassadors, we represent Jesus not ourselves. We cannot live as we want.

The fact that Ghana's ambassador to Togo lives in Togo doesn't make him a Togolese. The fact that we live in this world as Christians doesn't mean we belong here. As Christians, we cannot make this world our home. An ambassador of a country knows that he can be called back anytime to give account of his service so he doesn't make the foreign country where he is serving his home. We need to live with the awareness that at any point in time, God can call us back home to give account of our service for Him here on earth.

An ambassador serves His home country abroad. We as Christ's ambassadors are to serve God on earth. We need to live a life that will reflect the principles of God's kingdom. We need to be good representatives of Christ on earth.

Jesus left this earth thousands of years ago and left us here to continue His work. Are we doing it? Are we being good ambassadors of Christ on earth? If God should call us home today, would He find us faithful ambassadors? Do our lives reflect the kingdom of God? These are questions we all need to ponder over. Stay blessed!

Prayer line:

Lord, thank you for the privilege to be your ambassador on earth. Please help me be a good ambassador of your kingdom. Amen.
