TOPIC: CHRIST, OUR FOCUS

SCRIPTURE: HEBREWS 12:2

"looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God"

In a world full of uncertainties and troubles, what we choose to focus on is very important. Our focus determines our direction on earth. In our Biblical text for today, Paul teaches us who our focus should be. The only person worth our total focus is Jesus Christ.

As Christians, we must set our eyes on Jesus alone. The only way we can endure all the troubles around us is if we keep our eyes on Christ. To focus on Jesus is to focus on His word. The Bible has everything we need to live on this earth. Every instruction we need in every sphere of our lives is written in the Bible. The reason the world is struggling so much is that they have ignored God's word. If we want to endure this world and live for God, it is very important we stick to the Word of God.

To focus on Christ is to focus on our eternal prize. In Revelation 2:10, John talked about the crown that is laid up for all who will endure the tribulations of this world. That is the prize of our labour for God on this earth. To endure all that we go through here, we need to focus on the crown of life that is laid for us in Heaven.

In sports, athletes are able to overcome all challenges and compete because they are focused on the trophies and prize that they will get if they should win their competitions. The reason, a boxer endures all the punches that hits him is because of the prize that is set for him if he should win the fight. If we can focus on the prize of our labour, we will be able to endure all temptations for Christ.

James 1:12 encourages us to endure all temptations so that we can receive the crown of life. One of the ways we can overcome temptations is for us to focus on the eternal prize that we will get if we endure to the end.

Brethren, we are in a serious battle on this earth, we need to keep our focus on our Savior, Jesus Christ if we want to endure till the end. If you find yourself in some difficulties, don't focus on the troubles, focus on Jesus. Focusing on our problems produces fear, but focusing on Jesus produces faith and hope. Stay Blessed!

Lord, please help me to stay focused on you even in the midst of all my challenges. Amen
