Breakfast With Christ - The Divine Exchange

BREAKFAST WITH CHRIST

TOPIC: THE DIVINE EXCHANGE

SCRIPTURE READING: GENESIS 27:13

"His mother said to him, Let your curse be on me, my son; only obey my voice, and go, bring them to me."

Have you ever pondered over the above scripture? Did you figure out its link to the salvation Christ Jesus won on the cross for us? There is a distinct sense of drama in this narrative. This is an excerpt from the drama that ensues between the sick Isaac, his two sons and Rebekah.

Isaac was about to die so as tradition demanded, he called his eldest son, Esau to bless him. But somehow, Rebekah arranged with Jacob to 'steal' his elder twin brother's blessings.

Today, I want us to reflect on the message of divine exchange embedded in the passage. Rebecca said, "Let your curse be on me, my son.....". Such a powerful statement which is not only difficult for a mere man to achieve/ fathom out but impracticable for the carnal mind to comprehend. "Let your curse be on me"? Seriously? Was it really the words of Rebecca? Or you sense some Christ at work? Would it ever occur to you that Isaac's blessings of Jacob/ Esau was an act of faith, as expressed in Hebrews 11: 20?

Generally, we would all say that actions based on faith are (and should be) righteous. But this is not what we see in the story of Isaac's blessings of his two sons.

Brethren, the fact is all who have rejected Christ as SAVIOUR will live in eternal regrets. This is how the above passage is linked to our salvation in Christ. All what Jacob needed to do was to obey irrespective of how successful his mother's attempt would be.

Today, all we've got to do is to express our faith, surrender to Him(Jesus Christ) and deposit all our burdens, curses and guilt at the cross. No additional work, just trust and obey. Now remember this divine exchange: He died instead of us for our forgiveness/ reconciliation, and also he lives instead of us for our deliverance. All our curses were laid on Him. Hallelujah, Praise the Lord.

Be blessed.

Prayer line:

Lord, thank you for your work on the cross for me. Please help me to obey you all the days of my life.
